California officials unveiled an online portal for residents to report suspected misconduct by federal agents, allowing uploads of videos, photos and details to help the state Department of Justice assess potential legal action. Announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta, the tool arrives amid community anxiety over federal operations Bonta likened to unlawful detentions. Officials cautioned the site is not a 911 replacement, does not trigger immediate response, and the Attorney General cannot represent individuals; legal referrals are available through the State Bar and LawHelpCA. The portal is hosted on the DOJ website.

The United States introduced a policy empowering the State Department to deny visas to people who authorize, direct, support, participate in, or carry out faith-based abuses, and, where appropriate, their immediate family members. Citing Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the department said it applies to Nigeria and others, echoing President Donald Trump's view that the U.S. cannot stand by. Tensions between the two countries have grown over Trump's accusations about attacks on Christians; Nigeria rejects the claims. The U.S. also added Nigeria to its list of countries of particular concern.

Washington. The Pentagon inspector general completed a review this week finding Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s use of the Signal messaging app to share details of a planned strike in Yemen risked U.S. personnel and could have violated department policies. Lawmakers reviewed the classified report in a secure facility after the IG sent it to Congress, and officials said a redacted, unclassified version may be released publicly this week. The IG noted the material originated from a CENTCOM planning document and recommended better training, while Hegseth disputed wrongdoing and asserted authority to declassify.
