A bipartisan bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives seeks to establish a commission that would convene American lawmakers with Indian parliamentarians to discuss shared policy concerns.

The proposal follows earlier attempts by Democratic Congressman Jim McDermott in two separate years, when he introduced similar measures in 2007 and 2009. Recent legislative efforts, such as the 2024 immigration reform package and the 2025 Dignity Act, have also aimed to streamline border processes and asylum adjudication.

The new bill, if passed, would create a structured forum for ongoing cooperation, potentially influencing trade, security, and cultural exchanges between the two nations. Analysts note that the initiative could strengthen diplomatic ties and provide a platform for addressing mutual challenges in a rapidly changing global landscape.

On Friday, Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was beaten and injured by masked Israeli settlers while reporting in the West Bank. The assault drew swift condemnation from U.S.

officials, including Representative Jamie Raskin, who called the attack “unconscionable” and urged an investigation. Levine, a veteran of conflict zones, was documenting the daily realities of Palestinian civilians when the violence erupted.

The incident underscores growing concerns about the safety of journalists in volatile regions and the broader issue of vigilante actions by right‑wing settlers. U.S. lawmakers and media organizations have urged authorities to protect foreign observers and to hold perpetrators accountable, emphasizing that such attacks threaten press freedom and international norms.

When Google discontinued support for its Nest line, owners faced a dilemma. Devices such as the first and second‑generation Nest Learning Thermostat lost smart connectivity, yet their hardware remained functional.

Users could recycle them through Google’s program, repurpose the units manually, or install custom firmware from the No Longer Evil project to restore limited smart features. The firmware, still developmental, can sometimes lock the thermostat, so users must weigh risk versus benefit. Meanwhile, Google’s shift to the Google Home ecosystem means older Nest products no longer integrate with the new platform, prompting many to consider recycling or DIY solutions.

The community’s response has been mixed. Reddit posts report success with the custom firmware, while others caution about potential lock‑ups. Ultimately, the choice rests on whether owners prefer a fully supported smart home or are willing to experiment with open‑source fixes.

Lacianne Carriere, RJ Mitte’s younger sister, broke into tears during the Texas memorial held in Brownsville.

She recalled how her brother stepped into a father‑like role after their mother’s paralysis, and how he loved the community that gathered at the Mitte Cultural District. Carriere urged anyone struggling to seek help, saying, “Try your hardest and reach out.” The service, filmed and shared on YouTube, highlighted RJ’s legacy as a disability advocate and beloved actor.

HP’s first Googlebook laptop delivers solid hardware, yet software limits shine. The 14‑inch model, powered by a Snapdragon X Elite chip and sixteen GB of RAM, offers a crisp 3K OLED display and a lightweight ten‑point‑nine‑millimeter chassis that weighs just two‑point‑seven‑four lbs. Its aluminum build feels sturdy, and the keyboard provides ample travel and a pleasant clack, making typing comfortable for extended sessions. Battery life reaches around nineteen hours, and charging is quick thanks to a modern USB‑C charger.

However, the Googlebook operating system falls short. Users must navigate unfamiliar shortcuts, and the OS’s limited app ecosystem hampers productivity. Despite these drawbacks, the laptop’s performance and build quality position it as a competitive option for Android‑centric users.

Hackers stole names, addresses, and disability records of millions of California public‑school students who took state‑mandated tests. The breach, uncovered on September twenty‑five, involved Educational Testing Service, the nonprofit that manages California’s standardized testing. Data from enrollments dating back to two thousand and twenty‑three, and even earlier for former students, were accessed between May twenty‑two and September eighteen, two thousand and twenty‑six. The compromised files included demographic details, test participation, and eligibility for federal programs, but did not contain Social Security numbers or financial information.

State education officials, led by Deputy Superintendent Mary Nicely, are coordinating with agencies to assess the scope and impact. While no evidence exists that the data have been released publicly, experts warn that a single compromised credential could grant prolonged access to millions of records. The incident underscores the need for stronger authentication safeguards in educational data systems.

The rapid change follows a pattern of swift staffing moves in the current administration, raising questions about stability and communication strategy. The decision underscores the administration’s willingness to act decisively, but also highlights the challenges of maintaining consistent messaging during a turbulent political climate.

His passing has left fans, colleagues, and the wrestling industry mourning a high‑flying talent whose career spanned over twenty‑two years.

On Thursday, a sixteen‑year‑old intruder opened fire in a special educational needs classroom at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon, killing three children and a teacher.

The teacher wrestled the gunman and threw her phone, while a nearby father, armed with a concealed pistol, entered the school and shot the suspect multiple times, preventing further casualties. Police released the suspect’s name, Griffin J John II, and confirmed he had previously attended the school.

A search warrant was executed at his home the following day, and investigators are still determining how he acquired the shotgun and ammunition. The incident has prompted calls for enhanced school security and community support for the affected families.

Verizon announced it will add a ten‑dollar monthly fee for the iPhone Handoff feature that Apple introduced in iOS twenty‑seven. The fee applies to compatible iPhones running iOS twenty‑seven, including the iPhone Duo and the iPhone eighteen Pro. Verizon said support is coming soon, and Apple had previously indicated the carrier would adopt the feature before the end of the year.
