Police in Tirana fired what appeared to be rubber bullets at protesters on Saturday, the fifth day of mass student demonstrations demanding Prime Minister Edi Rama step down. Reuters footage showed a shotgun firing toward crowds outside the education ministry, with rubber pellets found on the ground and striking two journalists and several demonstrators.

The incident marks an escalation in clashes that have engulfed central Tirana, where demonstrators have burned government buildings, hurled rocks, and faced tear gas and water cannons. Police chief Skender Hita confirmed the use of rubber bullets and said seven officers were suspended for exceeding authority and failing to respect proportionality.

The protests, fueled by anger over corruption, unemployment, and poor education, pose the biggest challenge yet to Rama, who last year won a fourth term. Policymakers condemned the unrest and called for calm, while Hita noted 1,067 people had been arrested and 388 criminally

Lawyers for Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota have demanded the return of property seized during a federal raid of her Washington, DC home. The attorneys argue the search violated safeguards protecting congressional members’ constitutional rights and was politically motivated ahead of the November midterm elections.

They claim federal agents failed to provide a warrant copy, ignored a magistrate judge’s instructions, and threatened the separation of powers. The Justice Department rejected the accusations, labeling the letter as riddled with false allegations. Omar, a naturalised citizen since two thousand, has faced scrutiny over her immigration status, including a 2019 probe during the Trump administration.

The raid, conducted on Monday, resulted in the seizure of Omar’s phone and passport, and the issuance of more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas. Her legal team has also requested preservation of audio and video recordings from the search. The dispute highlights tensions between law

Major League Baseball’s decision to postpone the Guardians‑Rays playoff game on Friday left many fans stranded and out of pocket. The game, originally scheduled for 6 p.m., was called off at 9 p.m.

after a heavy rainstorm that turned the field into a swamp. Fans who had already paid for parking, food, and travel found themselves waiting in the rain, with some spending over a hundred dollars on concessions and merchandise.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt admitted the league had known about the forecast and still chose to play, citing a desire to avoid a four‑game stretch. The postponement has sparked criticism that MLB failed to protect its supporters and disrupted the playoff schedule, which now includes games on Saturday and Sunday in Cleveland before moving to Tampa Bay.

On Friday, the only scheduled debate for Minnesota’s open U.S. Senate seat unfolded at the Minnesota Public Radio studio. Republican Michele Tafoya and Democrat Peggy Flanagan sparred over President Donald Trump’s war in Iran, the Big Beautiful Bill, and Medicaid and SNAP access. Tafoya, who once supported the war, now urged a swift exit strategy, while Flanagan criticized her opponent’s record and highlighted the war’s financial and human costs. The exchange underscored the candidates’ divergent views on national security and state welfare, setting the stage for the November election.

The debate, held at noon, was the sole public forum before Election Day, a rarity in non‑incumbent Senate races. It drew attention to the candidates’ policy positions and their impact on Minnesotans, as the November 3 election approaches.

Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that Starlink and its military variant Starshield remain unusable for intercepting Russian jet‑powered Shaheds because of speed limits that shut down service after one‑hundred‑sixty‑one kilometres per hour.

The restriction, imposed by the United States, has left Ukrainian forces unable to deploy their interceptor systems, a frustration echoed by soldiers on the front. Zelenskyy added that Kyiv is in dialogue with U.S.

officials and SpaceX, but no resolution has emerged. Meanwhile, Russia launched a large attack on Ukraine’s energy sector, striking more than fifteen critical power facilities, underscoring the strategic importance of uninterrupted satellite communications for Ukraine’s defense and logistics.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order today, pausing a sweeping package of sanctions targeting the Russian economy. The move follows the passage of the Lindsey Graham Act, which aimed to clamp down on Russian financial flows and energy exports.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the decision as unfortunate, warning that it could embolden Moscow’s assault on Kyiv. Congressional leaders, both Democrats and Republicans, criticized the pause, arguing it undermines U.S.

national security and European allies. Trump cited national interest, though he offered no further details. The decision arrives as Russian attacks have killed four civilians and disrupted flights, heightening fears that Ukraine may be left vulnerable as winter approaches.

Detroit’s designation as City of the Year in 2026 further amplified civic enthusiasm for local events. These gatherings illustrate how Detroit’s public schools serve as a unifying force, fostering

On Friday evening, a seventy‑one‑year‑old fisherman named Steve Hamilton was fishing in Winter Garden, Florida, when a nearly twelve‑foot alligator dragged him into the water and killed him.

Emergency crews arrived at about five‑twenty‑pm after a 911 call, but struggled to rescue him because of nearby alligators. The victim’s body was recovered a couple of hours later, and the attacking alligator was subsequently killed by authorities.

This incident follows a recent pattern of fatal alligator encounters in Florida, with at least thirty‑four deaths recorded since 1948. The state’s fish and wildlife commission, which monitors an estimated one‑point‑three million alligators, continues to urge residents to remain vigilant around water bodies.

NVIDIA’s senior vice president Jeff Fisher publicly denied rumors that the flagship Blackwell GeForce RTX 5090 would be discontinued, stressing the card’s importance amid severe supply constraints.

Fisher made the statement during a Taipei launch event, noting that the GPU remains a core product and will keep shipping, though availability remains limited. Prices for the RTX 5090 have already climbed beyond five thousand dollars in many markets, reflecting the scarcity.

Despite the denial, the card has vanished from major retailers’ shelves, prompting speculation about production pauses or supply chain disruptions. NVIDIA’s clarification aims to reassure gamers and investors that the RTX 5090 will remain on the market, even as the company navigates supply challenges.

Verizon has announced that its new iPhone Handoff feature, which lets users share a single eSIM number across two iPhones, will cost customers ten dollars a month. The carrier says the feature is coming soon to its network and will be available to users running iOS twenty seven.

iPhone Handoff is similar to the service already offered by T‑Mobile, which charges five dollars a month, and it allows users to switch the primary device at any time. Calls, messages and Find My data automatically move to the device currently in use, while iCloud backups remain synced across both phones.

The move reflects Verizon’s broader strategy to monetize new Apple services while keeping its network competitive. The announcement was made in a press release dated June sixteen, two thousand twenty‑six, and was reported by Engadget three hours ago. Verizon’s pricing mirrors its recent trend of adding modest
