Weeks before Election Day, seventy‑one percent of U.S. adults feel the country is on the wrong track, the highest share yet in President Donald Trump’s second term.

The NBC News Decision Desk Poll shows deep unhappiness over economic conditions and widespread distrust toward both major parties, with Trump and Republicans bearing the brunt. Approval for the president slipped to thirty‑four percent, while disapproval rose to sixty‑six percent, a second‑term high.

Among registered voters, sixty‑one percent favor Democrats over Republicans to control Congress, a sign that GOP majorities are in danger. The poll highlights the balancing act Republican candidates face: energizing Trump‑supporting voters while avoiding alienating those who disapprove of the administration. The survey also reveals that fifty‑eight percent of adults believe Trump’s policies are hurting the country, while only twenty‑eight percent say they are helping.

The Big 12 admitted a timing mistake after Notre Dame’s final play on October seventeenth. A pass on first and goal fell incomplete in the end zone, yet one second remained on the clock.

Officials and the replay crew failed to spot the error, allowing BYU to secure a twenty‑eight to twenty‑four upset. The conference released a statement the next day, blaming the replay process and promising a full review of end‑of‑game officiating before the following week’s contests.

The incident echoes earlier controversies, such as the referee’s oversight in a London game where one second was missed in overtime. Fans and analysts argue the lack of consequence undermines trust in college football’s officiating system.

The Democratic Republic of Congo confirmed the Ebola outbreak had spread to its eighth province, North Ubangi, on the eighteenth of October, 2026. The National Institute for Biomedical Research reported two new cases, including one fatality, in the province that borders the Central African Republic.

This development follows a surge of sixty seven new confirmed cases and twenty six new deaths reported in the twenty-four hours to the sixteenth of October, 2026, bringing the cumulative total to nine thousand four hundred fifteen cases and four thousand five hundred thirty six deaths since the outbreak began. The outbreak, the worst Ebola epidemic in Congo’s history, has already crossed borders, with cases recorded in Uganda and seven infections confirmed in Kenya this month.

The concentration remains in eastern Congo, where Ituri province reported forty four of the sixty seven new cases. Local businesses in eastern provinces report reduced workforce availability,

A Toyota owner discovered a DIY fix that avoided a three‑hundred‑dollar replacement. The owner was told the LED taillight required a full assembly swap, but a mobile mechanic from Arizona showed how to remove the trim, unscrew two bolts, and replace a single bulb.

The repair saved the owner the dealer’s fee and proved that some LED units are owner‑serviceable. Toyota’s manuals for newer models, such as the 2025 Tacoma, 2024 RAV4 Hybrid, and 2021 Highlander Hybrid, list taillights as integrated assemblies, yet older designs allowed individual bulb replacement.

The video, now viewed over four‑hundred‑thousand times, highlights the importance of checking a vehicle’s parts diagram before accepting a dealer quote. The incident underscores a broader trend: manufacturers increasingly bundle components, raising repair costs. Yet, as this case shows, knowledgeable owners can sometimes bypass those fees by following detailed service instructions.

Nothing Bundt Cakes CEO Dolf Berle explained how his early dairy farm work taught him discipline around success routines, influencing both self‑care and business decisions. He highlighted vulnerability as a key leadership trait, noting that openness helps leaders connect with teams and deliver difficult news personally.

Berle, who has led top brands like Topgolf and Dave & Buster’s, emphasized that the CEO role is a servant position, not glamorous, and that finding the right people and a growing business are essential for success in food and beverage. Berle’s background includes degrees from Harvard and the University of Zimbabwe, world‑championship medals in pole vault, and a stint on American Ninja Warrior.

He said that if not leading Nothing Bundt, he would pursue a path similar to Mr. Rogers, focusing on kindness and joy. The CEO’s insights underscore the importance of personal discipline and empathy in steering a

At least one person was killed in an overnight strike that targeted St Petersburg’s oil terminal and the Ruchyi oil depot. Governor Alexander Beglov reported that fires were being extinguished at both sites, and at least five people were injured.

A logistics centre belonging to Ozon, Russia’s Amazon, and a data centre of VKontakte, the country’s Facebook equivalent, were also struck. The attack followed a pause in Ukrainian strikes that lasted three days after President Donald Trump declared an energy ceasefire. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the country had targeted Russian energy sites seventy‑six times since that announcement, and the strikes resumed earlier this week, drawing criticism from the United States.

The city’s governor said twelve apartment buildings and two homes suffered damage, and Pulkovo Airport was temporarily closed. VKontakte confirmed outages but stated services remained available. Ozon reported a fire at its logistics centre,
