After years of tinnitus, fatigue, high blood pressure and muscle spasms following a tick bite, Oliver Moazzezi turned to AI for answers when doctors suggested anxiety. The tool pointed to Lyme disease; a private antibody test was positive, and treatment has eased some symptoms. He feels vindicated yet frustrated with his care. Specialists say Lyme is often missed and argue official data undercounts cases, while UKHSA is updating figures. Experts urge caution: some see AI as a helpful prompt, others say diagnoses should rest with clinicians or 111.

Lions defensive back Brian Branch said he sparked a post-game fight, admitting it was “childish,” after growing frustrated that Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster blocked him in the back without a flag. Branch said the hit happened in front of an official and could have injured him, and he felt players were trying to bully him during plays. He acknowledged he should have contained his response “between the whistles” and apologized.

In Sharm el-Sheikh, the U.S. and Egyptian presidents are co-chairing a “Summit for Peace” to shore up a breakthrough ceasefire and end the two-year war in Gaza, even as Israel and Hamas—who have no direct contacts—stay away. The roughly two-hour meeting coincides with Hamas’ planned release of its 20 remaining living Israeli hostages and Israel’s freeing of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Leaders from Turkey, Jordan, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, the U.N. and EU will attend, facing unresolved questions over disarming Hamas, Gaza’s post‑war governance, Israel’s withdrawal, and a $53 billion reconstruction effort, with Egypt planning a future conference.

The Netherlands took control of Chinese-owned chipmaker Nexperia to secure European supplies, invoking the Goods Availability Act in September after “acute” governance concerns. The move places the firm under temporary external management and freezes asset, business and personnel changes for up to a year; Wingtech chairman Zhang Xuezheng was suspended from Nexperia roles. Daily operations continue, but Wingtech’s shares hit the 10% limit in Shanghai. The government said the automotive sector is exposed. Wingtech called the action excessive and driven by geopolitical bias, insisting it complies with laws. The decision follows Beijing’s tighter rare-earth export controls, risking trade strain.

Doctors warn common habits—sedentary work, processed meals, smoking, short sleep, and skipped checkups—are elevating U.S. stroke risk. High blood pressure is the chief driver of ischemic (87%) and hemorrhagic (13%) strokes. American Heart Association data show over-50 declines since the 1990s have plateaued and then risen, while total cases are growing as the population ages; incidence is climbing among adults 15–49, especially in parts of the South and Midwest. Experts cite prolonged sitting, excess sodium and fats, and limited preventive care, including among gig workers, as pathways to hypertension, vessel damage, clots, and stroke.

Wingtech Technology plunged the maximum 10% after the Dutch government moved to exert control over its European unit, Nexperia, in a rare step that could strain China–Europe ties. The Hague invoked the Goods Availability Act in September to assume oversight of the Netherlands car chipmaker, citing national security. Nexperia may keep normal production, but authorities can block or reverse corporate decisions. The Dutch government is also requiring Wingtech to halt changes to Nexperia’s assets, business or personnel for up to a year, including at subsidiaries, the company said Sunday.

After a diagnosis of rare brain and spine cancer, 14-year-old Sam Lane helped assemble a Lego MRI set at Boston Children's Hospital, a tool now easing other kids' fears. Lego said Monday that more than 1 million children worldwide have used the sets, and research found 96% of healthcare professionals see reduced anxiety, with 46% reporting less need for sedation. Child life specialists say the hands-on play demystifies the loud, unfamiliar machines. Sam's mother called the project essential support; now over a year cancer-free, Sam says he can even sleep through his scans.

After a 29-27 loss to the Chargers, Tua Tagovailoa aired worries about the Dolphins' focus, citing players arriving late—or skipping—player-only meetings and questioning whether expectations are being met. He said leadership must clean up "little things," even considering making such meetings mandatory, and later clarified only some players were late. The defeat, sealed by Cameron Dicker's last-minute field goal, marked Miami's fifth loss in six weeks. Coach Mike McDaniel, described as on the hot seat, said accountability is clear, called Tagovailoa's comments a message, and insisted players have delivered.

Taylor Swift, fresh off releasing “The Life Of A Showgirl,” made her first public NFL appearance of the season at Sunday’s Chiefs-Lions game, shown on NBC sitting in a suite with Caitlin Clark. She missed the previous game for The Tonight Show, where she discussed her engagement to Travis Kelce, who proposed in August. Swift has quietly attended at least two other Arrowhead games and drew attention for entering behind a screen during the Super Bowl 2025 rematch. On New Heights, Kelce laughed about her risqué track “Wood,” saying fans misread the lyrics.

US equity-index futures rose and oil rebounded after President Donald Trump signaled openness to a deal with China, easing nerves after a flare-up in trade tensions. S&P 500 contracts gained 1.3% and Nasdaq 100 futures 1.8% as the administration softened its rhetoric following Trump’s threat of 100% tariffs in response to Chinese export controls. Ten-year Treasury futures opened higher, oil added 1.7%. Silver swung near a record amid a historic London short squeeze, gold set a new peak, and cryptocurrencies steadied.
