More than $120 trillion is set to change hands over the next 25 years, yet most heirs won’t stick with their benefactors’ wealth advisors, Cerulli Associates reports. Only 27% of future beneficiaries plan to keep the advisor, and among those who already inherited, just 20% did. Many switch because they already have an advisor or lacked a relationship with the legacy one. Benefactors are largely ambivalent. Cerulli also finds estate conversations often happen too late—prompting advisors to push clients to involve heirs early to ease transitions.

After a string of bankruptcies raised alarms in auto finance, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warned hidden risks may lurk beneath red-hot markets. A subprime auto lender and dealer collapsed amid risky loans, and a lawyer alleged in court "pervasive fraud." Tricolor Holdings also went bankrupt, linked to $170 million in JPMorgan losses as car costs climb and borrowers fall behind. Auto-parts maker First Brands filed Chapter 11 after allegedly using off-balance-sheet borrowing, reportedly under DOJ scrutiny, and named interim CEO. Dimon cautioned similar problems could surface in a downturn: "When you see one cockroach, there are probably more."

Nestle will cut 16,000 jobs over two years as new CEO Philipp Navratil shifts the Swiss company toward products with “highest potential returns.” Announced alongside stronger nine‑month 2025 sales, the plan targets 12,000 white‑collar roles and aims to save about 1bn SFr annually. Shares rose 7.5% after the update. Navratil said the company must “change faster” and adopt a performance mindset that won’t accept losing market share. The shake‑up follows September turmoil: predecessor Laurent Freixe was fired over an undisclosed relationship, and chair Paul Bulcke left the same month.

As U.S. health care premiums climb—up more than 24% since 2019 and poised to rise again—some employers are absorbing costs to shield workers as paycheck deductions are expected to jump 6%–7% next year. NPR reports the average family premium topped $25,500 last year, with employers paying about $19,200 and workers $6,300, per KFF. Consolidation, pricier drugs such as GLP-1s, and post-pandemic demand are fueling increases. Boston Consulting Group, Zocdoc, and startup Bartesian offer zero-premium options, trading higher employer outlays for recruiting gains and focus, though deductibles and other benefits can vary.

In a candid SiriusXM chat with Howard Stern, Jennifer Lopez admitted she turned down Adrian Lyne’s 2002 thriller Unfaithful, saying the script “wasn’t good,” though she now concedes he “made it great.” Diane Lane’s subsequent best actress Oscar nomination still “haunts” her, Lopez said, calling it the one that makes her ask, “What were you thinking?” The wide-ranging interview also touched on her famous exes, buzz around Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, and her new film Kiss of the Spider Woman, recalling a period when she juggled hits and misfires like Maid in Manhattan and Gigli.

India’s goods exports to the US, its largest foreign market, plunged 20% in September and 37.5% over four months as Washington’s 50% tariffs took hold, including a 25% penalty tied to Delhi’s Russian oil purchases. GTRI said labour-intensive sectors—textiles, gems and jewellery, engineering goods and chemicals—were hardest hit. Shipments fell from $8.8bn in May to $5.5bn in September, pushing India’s trade deficit to a 13-month high of $32.15bn. Some losses were cushioned by improved trade with the UAE and China. Trade talks have resumed, with a deal targeted next month amid sticking points on agriculture and dairy.

Brown University has rejected a White House compact offering preferential access to federal funding in exchange for sweeping policy changes, joining MIT in saying no. The proposal, sent to nine schools on October 1, seeks to remove sex and ethnicity from admissions, cap international enrollment at 15%, freeze tuition for five years, adopt biologically based gender definitions, and survey campus viewpoints annually, among other provisions. Other universities are reviewing or expressing concern; UT Austin struck a more welcoming tone. The administration hopes for initial signatories by November 21, 2025.

Detroit will be without starting safety Brian Branch on Monday night against the Buccaneers after the NFL upheld his one-game suspension, sustained by hearing officer Jordy Nelson. Branch sparked a postgame brawl by striking Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in the facemask in Kansas City; the league issued the ban the next day, and Branch has 10 fines in two seasons. He’s eligible to return Tuesday, with Avonte Maddox likely to start. It’s a marquee Week 7 matchup, as the 5-1 Buccaneers push to fend off the Falcons and chase the NFC’s top seed.

Despite a torn thumb ligament, Keegan Murray agreed to a five-year, $140 million extension with the Kings on Wednesday, hours after Sacramento reportedly added Russell Westbrook on a one-year, $3.6 million deal. Murray, 25, would have been a restricted free agent after this season and is now under contract through 2030-31. He had surgery Monday in New York and is expected to miss at least 4–6 weeks; a Stanford hand specialist told NBC Sports California full healing could take three to six months. Under new full-time coach Doug Christie, Sacramento seeks a rebound after two straight playoff misses.
