The article argues that despite a changing of the guard, the NBA still leans on LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant for marquee TV slots, even as none has reached the last two conference finals. The author reviews past hits and misses, then unveils bold 2025-26 calls: no Americans on first-team All-NBA, Cooper Flagg unanimous ROY, Texas-hosted West Play-In, Heat-Bulls Play-In redux, Shaedon Sharpe as Sixth Man on a losing team, Celtics and Pacers missing playoffs, Tyronn Lue COY, Cam Whitmore MIP, West supremacy, and Thunder over Cavs in June.

An electronic eye implant half the thickness of a human hair enabled 84% of 38 elderly patients with dry age‑related macular degeneration to read letters, numbers and words again in a trial. The 2mm Prima chip, fitted under the retina in under two hours and paired with augmented‑reality glasses and a waistband computer, restores central vision via infrared stimulation and AI processing, Moorfields clinicians said. One participant, Sheila Wilson, called seeing a letter again 'dead exciting.' Doctors hailed a 'new era' for artificial vision but stressed patients need training and intensive rehabilitation.

The Orionid meteor shower is expected to dazzle overnight Monday, Oct. 20 into Tuesday, Oct. 21, with a new moon on Oct. 21 leaving the sky dark for prime viewing, especially in rural locations. Comets Lemmon (C/2025 A6) and SWAN (C/2025 R2) may show during a 30-minute window about 90 minutes after sunset, likely best in binoculars. For meteors, use only the naked eye, seek dark skies 20–30 miles from cities, and allow 20–30 minutes to adapt. Orion rises after midnight, with early Oct. 22 favored. Northern Lights are possible across northern U.S. states and Canada.

New York led 19-0 entering the fourth behind rookie Jaxson Dart, but missed conversions and two failed PATs loomed. Denver erupted: a tipped TD to Troy Franklin, two successful 2-pointers, a Dart interception to Justin Strnad, and two Bo Nix rushing scores. Will Lutz hit a 39-yard field goal with three seconds left. Denver’s 33 fourth-quarter points were an NFL record for a team shut out through three quarters; the Broncos moved to 5-2.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon closed season three with Daryl and Carol’s bid to get home literally burning out, as Norman Reedus confirms the spinoff is heading into its final season. Speaking after a night shoot in Spain, he says season four is well underway, with episode six in production, and the last stretch turns Daryl inward while tying threads from earlier seasons. The finale’s beach talk and childhood flashbacks mark a turning point, Reedus reiterates Daryl and Carol have never hooked up, and the dented hot-dog can remains ominously unopened.

The Marine Corps opened an investigation after the California Highway Patrol reported shrapnel from a 155mm artillery round struck a patrol car during a White House-promoted live-fire demonstration at Camp Pendleton. The round detonated prematurely overhead during Saturday’s Marine Corps 250th anniversary event; no injuries were reported, but a CHP vehicle on Interstate 5 was damaged as officers briefly halted traffic. Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned the exercise as reckless; Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth attended. Marines said safety protocols were followed and suspended live fire; CHP seeks a review. The White House didn’t comment.

Tiki Barber sounded fed up as he dissected the Giants’ 33-32 collapse to the Broncos on WFAN, torching the late play call that put the ball in rookie Jaxson Dart’s hands with under five minutes left and a 26-16 lead. He argued they should have run to drain timeouts instead of risking a throw that became an interception. Calling it the moment the game was lost, Barber blasted the trust in a rookie. Dart threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns with one pick and a 1-yard score, as the Giants yielded 33 fourth-quarter points.

August protests over living costs, corruption and inequality left 10 dead and forced a rollback of perks, while a $28bn free school meals scheme has seen more than 9,000 children fall ill from food poisoning since January. Officials still chase 8% growth by 2029, touting new investment plans and trade deals, even as exporters face 19% US tariffs and economists flag weakening indicators. Investor nerves deepened after finance minister Sri Mulyani’s abrupt removal, though the government denies politicised data.
