Google is reportedly recruiting a small group of Pixel Superfans to test unreleased phones, a rare move for a company that usually limits hardware trials to employees. Bloomberg says 15 non-employees will be chosen to provide feedback on a Pixel in development, under strict NDAs and camouflaging cases. Applicants must show deep Pixel knowledge and propose improvements. The effort comes as Google continues to battle leaks, with traceable sample devices meant to curb them. Selection timing is unconfirmed, but feedback would need to arrive for the Pixel 11, expected August 2026; a Pixel 10a is expected spring 2026.

Two Falcon 9 rockets lifted off from Florida and California on Sunday, adding 56 Starlink satellites and pushing SpaceX past 10,000 mass-produced spacecraft delivered to low-Earth orbit—10,006 by one expert’s count. “From Tintin to 10,000,” a launch director said as the California mission deployed 28 satellites that will climb from 160 to about 332 miles. SpaceX now has 8,664 functioning Starlink satellites, including 7,448 in operational orbit, and more than 7 million subscribers. The Florida launch also flew a Falcon 9 booster for a record 31st time.

Around the league: Jacoby Brissett has outplayed Kyler Murray; Minnesota is trapped between Carson Wentz and J.J. In its fifth year, the Academy Museum Gala returned with a blue carpet and a sharpened couture focus, earning its “Met Gala of the West” nickname. Artful statements ranged from Kim Kardashian’s masked Maison Margiela gown to Rebecca Hall’s intarsia tulle and Jenna Ortega’s custom breastplate. Ayo Edebiri debuted as Chanel’s new ambassador, Penélope Cruz received the Icon Award, and Bowen Yang accepted the Vantage Award. Newly married Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco made their first post‑wedding appearance in Armani, while designers from Dior to Versace showcased fresh spring 2026 looks.

Justice Department prosecutors moved to question whether James Comey’s lead lawyer, Patrick Fitzgerald, can continue on the case, citing a potential conflict tied to alleged 2017 leaks of classified material. Comey’s team called the claim “provably false” and an “effort to defame.” A filing says “quarantined” evidence includes communications between the two. Fitzgerald pointed to a DOJ inspector general report finding no evidence Comey or his attorneys released classified information, and noted Comey’s seven Trump memos were unclassified when shared. CNN analyst Elie Honig warned a lawyer-witness overlap is “a dicey situation.” Comey was fired May 9, 2017.

About 90% of U.S. adults haven’t heard of cardiovascular‑kidney‑metabolic (CKM) syndrome, even as nearly 9 in 10 are at risk, an American Heart Association survey found. Defined by the AHA in October 2023, CKM links heart, kidney, diabetes and obesity; risk factors include high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, high blood sugar, excess weight and reduced kidney function. One-third of Americans carry three or more risks, said cardiologist Nidhi Kumar. Nearly three‑quarters of respondents, once CKM was explained, saw it as important and wanted to learn more. The Harris Poll surveyed about 4,000 adults in August 2025.

Amid a 1-6 start, Miami is staying with head coach Mike McDaniel, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football. Calls for change intensified after a 31-6 loss to the Browns and other high-profile defeats, while Tua Tagovailoa briefly criticized teammates for tardiness before walking it back. Rapoport said owner Stephen Ross backs McDaniel and a shift would only come if fans stop showing up or players quit on him. McDaniel accepted responsibility, vowed a full evaluation, and the Dolphins aim to regroup this week at the Falcons.

Federal safety regulators are investigating Waymo after video showed a robotaxi maneuvering around a stopped school bus with flashing red lights in Atlanta while children were unloading. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Defects Investigation will examine how Waymo’s software handles stopped school buses and said similar prior incidents are likely. Waymo said the bus partly blocked the driveway, preventing the vehicle from seeing the lights or stop sign, and cited its safety record. The company has rolled out software updates and continues expanding service in new cities.
