Netflix’s Q3 2025 results missed both Wall Street and internal EPS targets but met revenue expectations, after an unforecast expense from a Brazilian tax dispute cut operating margin to 28% versus 31.5% guidance. Adjusted EPS was $5.87 on $11.51 billion in revenue; shares fell up to 6% after hours. The company logged its best ad sales quarter, aims to more than double ads revenue in 2025, and will test AI-driven ad formats in Q4. Full-year guidance: $45.1 billion revenue, 29% margin; free cash flow lifted to about $9 billion. “KPop Demon Hunters” led viewership and returns to theaters.

An undocumented immigrant and a law enforcement officer were wounded after officers opened fire during a targeted enforcement traffic stop in Los Angeles, a DHS official said. The immigrant allegedly tried to evade arrest by ramming a law enforcement vehicle, prompting “defensive shots” that struck him in the elbow. A ricochet bullet hit an officer in the hand; multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News the officer was a U.S. marshal. Both were taken to the hospital. DHS said the immigrant had previously escaped custody.

Donald Trump has largely shelved any pardon or commutation for Sean “Diddy” Combs, despite months of lobbying, with the White House calling reports of imminent clemency “zero truth.” Advisers fear a “catastrophic” MAGA backlash, though the president could still reverse course. Combs was sentenced Oct. 3 to 50 months in prison, a $500,000 fine, and five years’ supervised release after convictions on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution; his lawyers filed an appeal Oct. 20. He’s seeking transfer from Brooklyn’s MDC to FCI Fort Dix, as the court recommends incarceration near New York and consideration for RDAP.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk escalated NASA’s leadership turmoil, mocking interim administrator Sean Duffy as "Sean Dummy" after Duffy publicly criticized SpaceX’s delayed lunar lander and courted rivals. The clash underscores a fight between Duffy, who has enjoyed the role since Donald Trump pulled Jared Isaacman’s nomination, and Isaacman, whom Trump has continued to meet and could re-nominate. Duffy elevated Amit Kshatriya, skeptical of using Starship as a lander, and explored moving NASA under the Department of Transportation. With morale low and a 20% workforce drop, the agency is stalled as talk centers on beating China to the Moon.

Scientists analyzing fMRI data from 577 adults who watched an eight-minute clip ('Bang! You're Dead') from Alfred Hitchcock Presents found that older brains shifted between activity states less often, and those states lasted longer. Using a Greedy State Boundary Search algorithm on Cam-CAN recordings from people aged 18 to 88, the team suggests fewer logged 'events' may make time feel faster with age. Experts note age-related neural dedifferentiation could play a role, while others add that our internal, nonlinear sense of time also matters. The authors say novelty and meaningful social engagement may help time feel fuller in retrospect.

Apple told a court that Jon Prosser still hasn’t answered its July lawsuit accusing him of stealing trade secrets, and a clerk entered a default last week. Prosser, however, told The Verge he has been in active communication with Apple and isn’t ignoring the case. In the complaint, Apple alleges Prosser and Michael Ramacciotti coordinated to obtain secrets: Ramacciotti allegedly accessed a development iPhone, video-called Prosser, and showed features of iOS 19—officially named iOS 26. Before the software’s announcement, Prosser posted videos on Camera app changes and the Liquid Glass design language.

Attorneys for Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate and legal U.S. resident once detained by ICE after pro‑Palestinian activism, asked the Third Circuit to uphold his release and block renewed detention or deportation. Khalil, freed in June after more than 100 days in a Louisiana facility, remains protected by a New Jersey district judge’s order even as a Louisiana immigration judge later ruled he should be deported to Syria or Algeria over omissions on his green‑card application. His team, including the ACLU, plans to appeal. A federal judge also eased his travel limits, requiring two days’ notice before traveling.

Israel is barring UNRWA from Gaza and moving to de-register major international NGOs, a process aid officials say is ideological and has left groups unable to deliver supplies to Gaza and the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Despite a ceasefire deal brokered this month by President Trump promising an aid surge, only two of seven crossings are open and many entry requests are rejected. The Norwegian Refugee Council and others await approvals as trucks sit idle in Egypt and Jordan. Israel cites security; critics warn delisting and data demands endanger staff and hamper life-saving relief.

Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, 70, has been incarcerated at Paris’ La Santé prison after receiving a five-year sentence for plotting to finance his 2007 campaign with Libyan funds. He is appealing and insists he is innocent. Becoming modern France’s first ex-leader behind bars, Sarkozy arrived by police motorcade after a farewell meeting with President Emmanuel Macron. The once tough-on-crime conservative—nicknamed “President Bling-Bling”—remains a polarizing figure, with a career marked by flashy style, hardline stances on immigration and crime, and an enduring marriage to Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, who was seen embracing him before his transfer.

After surviving a 2012 Taliban shooting, Malala Yousafzai now grapples with the weight of her Nobel Peace Prize and the scars she once thought healed. In her new memoir, Finding My Way, she recounts Oxford years of discovery — rooftops, failed exams, first love — and a marijuana episode that hurled her back into the attack, triggering PTSD, anxiety and therapy. She reflects on marriage, culture and choice after falling for Asser, and renews her plea for girls’ safety and schooling, as Malala Fund advocates for girls’ education worldwide.
