Born in basement workshops, Ukraine’s drone start-ups are racing into industry, led by Fire Point—a firm that pivoted from film work to become a military contractor. Executives say it holds $1 billion in contracts this year and builds long-range FP-1 drones at 30 secret sites, used in strikes on Russian refineries while it scales a longer-range Flamingo. Its ascent has prompted scrutiny: accusations of favoritism, a corruption inquiry, quality complaints, and an audit finding missed price talks that added $16.7 million. Fire Point says flaws are fixed and claims its drones conduct 60% of attacks inside Russia.

Cambodia and Thailand agreed Sunday to advance a resolution of their border hostilities, with President Trump claiming credit as mediator. He and Malaysia’s prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, helped broker a July cease-fire after a five-day clash, and they witnessed Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai counterpart Anutin Charnvirakul sign a Kuala Lumpur agreement. The text, a joint declaration rather than a peace deal, commits both sides to pull heavy weapons under ASEAN monitoring and includes Thailand’s repatriation of 18 prisoners of war. Obstacles remain: an undefined border and nationalist sentiment. Thailand says the talks were bilateral despite U.S. facilitation.

Iowa, a Trump stronghold, is reeling from the president’s trade, immigration and energy policies. After President Trump announced a $20 billion bailout for Argentina, China moved to buy Argentine soy, deepening Iowa farmers’ losses as the state’s GDP fell 6.1% in Q1 2025. Tariffs have raised costs for manufacturers and farms, while immigration enforcement and wind-policy cutbacks add strain. John Deere layoffs, meatpacking disruptions and volatile cattle markets underscore the squeeze. Some residents remain loyal and hopeful; others warn of ‘death by a thousand paper cuts’ and question who the bailouts really help.

In northern Iraq, the PKK said it is pulling all fighters out of Turkey to prevent clashes, a move approved by imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan and framed as a fresh step following earlier disarmament gestures. At a news conference, with about 25 arrivals from Turkey present, officials urged Ankara to adopt legal and political reforms. Turkey’s ruling party welcomed the withdrawal and warned against provocations, as Erdogan prepares to meet Kurdish legislators and a 51-member committee readies reform proposals. PKK spokesmen voiced commitment—tempered by frustration over Kurdish language rights and Ocalan’s conditions.

Russian strikes battered Kyiv overnight in a second deadly attack in 24 hours, killing at least three and injuring dozens, including six children, city officials said. Fires and shattered windows hit high‑rise buildings in Desnianskyi and Obolonskyi as alerts lasted about 90 minutes; the full extent of damage remained unclear. President Volodymyr Zelensky renewed appeals for Patriot air defenses after an earlier strike killed at least four. Russia said it downed a drone bound for Moscow, and the Kremlin said Vladimir Putin visited a command post. President Trump’s peace push stalled, and a planned Budapest summit was scrapped.

After Deontae Lawson stripped LaNorris Sellers, Bernard sealed it on a 25-yard direct-snap touchdown with 34 seconds remaining. DeShawn Jones added an 18-yard pick-six. Sellers threw for 222 yards and a TD and ran for another as the Gamecocks faltered late.

A few minutes into OpenAI’s Atlas browser, the reporter hit message limits and a GPT-5 free-plan cap—reminders that its chatbot‑centric design works best with a subscription. Atlas can highlight deals and compare prices, but booking tasks were limited to paying customers. OpenAI pitches a “super‑assistant” while seeking revenue from 800 million users; only about 5% pay, and ads could hurt experience, analyst Stephanie Liu warned. Atlas may also learn from user behavior, raising privacy concerns. With Chrome dominant—and Gemini and Copilot embedded—developer Erik Goins says ChatGPT could cut out search’s middleman, but whether people will pay remains uncertain.
