Woman dies after being left behind by cruise ship on Australian island

An 80-year-old Australian woman was found dead on Lizard Island after the Coral Adventurer left without her. She had joined a hike to Cook’s Look but reportedly stopped to rest and did not return before the ship departed at sunset. The crew returned when they realized she was missing, prompting an overnight search involving helicopters and torches; her body was located Sunday morning. AMSA is investigating and will meet the crew, while Queensland police said a report on the sudden, non‑suspicious death will go to the coroner. Witnesses described the scene as deeply distressing.
