Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry’s long-simmering feud with LSU athletic director Scott Woodward erupted after Woodward fired football coach Brian Kelly, drawing a blistering rebuke and a vow from Landry to stay out of the next hire. Yahoo Sports reported Landry convened donors and administrators at the governor’s mansion to authorize Kelly’s ouster and pushed to fire Woodward. The governor has clashed with LSU over the women’s team remaining in the locker room during the anthem and a live tiger parade, and pressed to rehire Will Wade. He also blasted Woodward for Kelly’s “terrible” contract and its $54 million buyout.
