West Coast States Defy CDC on Vaccines

Four Western states formed the West Coast Health Alliance, citing eroded trust in the CDC, and will use independent medical organizations for immunization guidance instead of the CDC. California passed a law to implement this change. The alliance issued unified recommendations for COVID-19, flu, and RSV vaccines. This action follows criticism from the HHS regarding the alliance and preempts a CDC advisory committee meeting on vaccine recommendations.
