Vance Pressed on Homan Allegations, CDC Layoffs

Vice President J.D. Vance faced sharp questioning on Sunday shows, struggling to address allegations that Trump border czar Tom Homan was recorded accepting $50,000 in 2024. Vance called it a smear and a “left-wing rabbit hole,” leading ABC’s George Stephanopoulos to cut the interview short. He also sidestepped whether he agreed with Donald Trump that Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker should be jailed, saying courts should decide. On NBC, Vance defended layoffs of more than 1,000 CDC employees during the shutdown—moves later partly reversed—while blaming Chuck Schumer, who has no authority over federal worker layoffs.
