Turkey recorded a record high temperature of 50.5 degrees Celsius in Silopi, exceeding the previous record of 49.5 degrees. The intense heatwave, affecting much of the eastern Mediterranean, has caused widespread wildfires across Turkey, resulting in 13 deaths and the evacuation of numerous villages and homes.
