Trump halts trade talks with Canada over ad

President Trump announced late Thursday he is terminating all trade negotiations with Canada, citing what he called a fraudulent Ontario government ad that uses 1987 audio of Ronald Reagan condemning tariffs. Posting on Truth Social, he said tariffs are crucial to U.S. security and the economy, and declared talks ended. The rupture comes as the United States, Canada and Mexico prepare to review their shared free trade agreement by next summer. Ontario said the ad, set to air in the United States, cost C$75 million. Offices for Doug Ford and Prime Minister Mark Carney did not immediately respond.
