The Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court to let National Guard troops in Chicago protect federal personnel and property, after a judge allowed the troops to remain in Illinois but barred patrols and deployments. Solicitor General D. John Sauer warned the limits jeopardize agents during protests over immigration enforcement. The justices requested a response by Monday. The plea intensifies a clash with Gov. JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson, who argue any deployment is unconstitutional. Eleven protesters were arrested Friday outside an ICE facility in Broadview, a recurring protest site.
