Aspinall 'still can't see' three days after eye poke

Three days after his UFC 321 title defence ended as a no contest in Abu Dhabi, Tom Aspinall still has no vision in his right eye, according to his father. Cyril Gane accidentally poked the heavyweight champion in both eyes late in the first round, sending Aspinall to hospital; he later saw a Manchester specialist and will undergo further tests, including a CT scan. Andy Aspinall said his son’s left eye is “about 50%,” urging action to curb eye pokes. The UFC briefly introduced redesigned gloves in June 2024 before reverting; Dana White said such incidents are unavoidable.
