Taylor Taranto, a pardoned Jan. 6 defendant later convicted over a 2023 livestreamed bomb threat while driving through former President Barack Obama’s D.C. neighborhood, was sentenced to time served and three years of supervised release. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols imposed drug testing and a mental health evaluation and praised two prosecutors, later removed from the case after DOJ withdrew a memo that called Jan. 6 a “riot” by a “mob,” for excellent work. The original filing sought 27 months and noted Taranto’s Jan. 6 charges and Mr. Trump’s Truth Social post about Obama’s address; a replacement memo omitted those references.
