With almost 99% counted, both stand on 26 seats in the 150-seat parliament, but D66 leads by 15,000 votes and may secure a 27th. Jetten, 38, hailed a historic result, credited a positive Yes, we can campaign, and won in cities including Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Coalition talks loom: he needs at least three partners, with VVD, Labour GreenLeft and Christian Democrats the most obvious. Outgoing prime minister Dick Schoof warned the process could run past Christmas.
