Plans for President Donald Trump to meet Vladimir Putin on Ukraine are on hold, a U.S. official said, after a call between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russia’s Sergey Lavrov. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there’s no urgency and “serious preparation” is needed. Trump’s shifting proposals — from freezing lines to carving up Donbas — have drawn pushback as Ukraine and European leaders accuse Putin of stalling. Eight European leaders and EU officials vowed to tap frozen Russian assets and will discuss additional sanctions at an EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.
