Suspects broke in around 3:30 a.m. and took Native American baskets, jewelry, and laptops. Executive Director Lori Fogarty called it a brazen theft that robs the public of cultural heritage and said the museum is working with Oakland police, the city, and the FBI. The FBI Art Crime Team has joined the case. Investigators are determining how it happened and where the artifacts are; the probe is ongoing.
