Ahead of Tuesday’s Election Day, New York City’s mayoral hopefuls fanned out across all five boroughs in a final push. Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, 34, a democratic socialist who would be the city’s first Muslim mayor, kept up viral videos and a relentless ground game after defeating Andrew Cuomo in the primary. Cuomo, now an independent after resigning four years ago, courted Republican voters, while Curtis Sliwa, in his signature red beret, pressed a public-safety message. Early voting ended Sunday with more than 735,000 ballots cast, below last year’s early total but well above 2021’s mayoral figure.
