Animal rights activist Zoe Rosenberg, 23, was convicted in Sonoma County of felony conspiracy, two counts of trespassing, and vehicle tampering for taking four chickens from Petaluma Poultry, a Perdue Farms subsidiary. After a seven-week trial, the Santa Rosa jury deliberated less than a day. Rosenberg, who said she rescued sick birds now in a sanctuary, left court with an ankle monitor and vowed to report animal cruelty. Her attorney plans an appeal. The district attorney and Petaluma Poultry said the verdict upholds the law. Sentencing is Dec. 3; she faces up to 4 1/2 years.
