Israel Excludes Barghouti From Ceasefire Prisoner List

Israel’s initial list of roughly 250 Palestinians to be freed under the new Gaza ceasefire does not include Marwan Barghouti, the popular Fatah leader long sought by Hamas. The group says it is pressing mediators for his and other high-profile releases. With a truce and troop pullback in effect, Hamas is to release about 20 living Israeli hostages by Monday, while Israel plans to free prisoners and around 1,700 people seized from Gaza held without charge. Many slated for release were jailed in the 2000s; more than half will be sent to Gaza or exile.
