Dominion Voting Systems, the US voting equipment manufacturer embroiled in election conspiracy theories, has been sold to Scott Leiendecker, founder of electronic pollbook maker KnowInk. The acquisition, under new company Liberty Vote, marks a 'new chapter for American elections', according to Leiendecker. The sale follows a series of successful defamation lawsuits by Dominion, including a $787.5m settlement with Fox over false election claims. The renamed Liberty Vote plans to use hand-marked paper ballots, maintain 100% American ownership, and implement rigorous third-party auditing standards.
