Sam O’Hara, a Washington resident, sued the District of Columbia, four police officers and an Ohio National Guard member, alleging they violated his First and Fourth Amendment rights by detaining him for 15 to 20 minutes after he followed Guard troops while playing the Imperial March. Filed by ACLU attorneys, the suit seeks damages and says he was released without charges. City officials declined comment; the officers remain on duty. The complaint describes his Star Wars-themed protests as peaceful amid Trump’s deployment of Guard troops, and says officers ignored his tight-cuff complaints. The case is before Judge Timothy Kelly.
