Cuomo denies agreeing to 9/11 ‘cheering’ jab

Andrew Cuomo appeared to laugh and agree when radio host Sid Rosenberg said Zohran Mamdani would be “cheering” if “another 9/11” happened. On WABC’s Sid & Friends, the mayoral hopeful argued Mamdani lacks crisis experience and questioned how he’d handle a 9/11-scale emergency. His campaign later said he wasn’t agreeing and was referencing Hasan Piker’s past “America deserved 9/11” remarks. Mamdani, who would be the city’s first Muslim mayor, called the exchange disgusting and racist. The race has been marked by disputes over Israel-Gaza, antisemitism, and rhetoric such as “globalize the intifada.”
