An 80-year-old cruise passenger was found dead on Lizard Island a day after the Coral Adventurer allegedly left without her, prompting accusations of a failure of care and common sense from her daughter. Police said it was a very hot day; Suzanne Rees felt ill during a hike and was told to head down unescorted. The ship reported her missing hours after departure and returned the next morning as searchers later located her body off the trail.
