BLM Cancels Review of Massive Nevada Solar Project

The Trump administration has halted Nevada's vast Esmeralda 7 solar proposal, with the Bureau of Land Management marking its environmental review "cancelled." The 185-square-mile, seven-part project—planned to generate 6.2 GW, enough for nearly 2 million homes—had advanced under Biden and initially moved forward this year, but stalled without a final review. Interior said applicants may resubmit individual projects for analysis. The move follows Trump's day-one pause on new renewable authorizations, his appointment of an oil-industry trade group leader to head BLM, and a July order reviewing wind and solar policies and giving Secretary Doug Burgum final say.
