Amazon is preparing major layoffs among corporate staff as soon as this week, with up to 30,000 positions at risk, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal and Reuters. The cost-cutting drive led by chief executive Andy Jassy would be the company’s biggest since 2022, when about 27,000 roles were eliminated. The potential cuts, around 10% of its roughly 350,000 corporate workers, would still be a small share of Amazon's 1.5 million employees worldwide. Amazon declined to comment. Jassy has linked spending reductions to heavy investment in AI tools.
