Alaska Airlines resumed operations Friday after an IT outage forced an hourslong grounding Thursday, canceling 229 flights and prompting more disruptions as the carrier repositions aircraft and crews. The airline urged travelers to check flight status before heading to the airport. The stoppage affected Alaska and Horizon Air flights, while Hawaiian Airlines — which Alaska Air Group bought last year — said its flights were operating as scheduled. In July, Alaska also grounded all flights for about three hours after a data-center hardware failure.
