Authorities charge men in Ferndale bar plot

Authorities charged two 20-year-old men with receiving and transferring guns and ammunition for terrorism after investigators say they scouted LGBTQ+ bars in Ferndale for a possible attack inspired by the Islamic State group. A federal complaint describes weeks of FBI surveillance, access to encrypted chats that referenced a Halloween “pumpkins” plot, and searches that seized AR-15-style rifles, handguns, tactical vests and backpacks, and GoPro cameras. The men were arrested Friday and remain in custody ahead of a Nov. 10 detention hearing. “Our American heroes prevented a terror attack,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said.
