Expulsions surge after Kashmir attack, rights say

After an April militant attack in Kashmir, Indian authorities intensified expulsions of alleged “illegal immigrants,” with Human Rights Watch citing Bangladesh border guards to report more than 1,500 people pushed into Bangladesh and Myanmar between May 7 and June 15 — including Indian citizens and about 100 Rohingya. In Mumbai, vendor Mustafa Kamal Sheikh says police detained him, flew him to the border, and forced him to cross at night before viral videos of his pleas spurred his return. Media also reported bulldozed Muslim homes and mass detentions; key ministries and police largely declined comment.
