Luka Doncic erupted for 43 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists but went 2-for-10 from deep, with LA dropping its ninth opener in 10 years. LeBron James sat on the bench with sciatica, expected to sideline him until mid-November. Jonathan Kuminga scored 17, Buddy Hield hit five threes, and Butler went 16-for-16 at the line. A 19-4 third-quarter burst built a 17-point lead before Draymond Green's three with 3:33 left quelled an LA rally.
