Colombia accuses US of violating sovereignty in strike

Colombian President Gustavo Petro accused the United States of violating Colombia’s sovereignty and killing fisherman Alejandro Carranza, saying U.S. officials struck his adrift boat in September while he was fishing in the Caribbean. Petro, who shared a family video on X, said Carranza had no drug ties and demanded explanations. His comments followed President Donald Trump’s announcement of a separate U.S. strike Thursday on a “drug-carrying submarine,” which killed two people; two survivors were rescued, taken into custody, and later repatriated to Ecuador and Colombia.
