Trump announces an end to US aid to Colombia

From his Mar-a-Lago resort, President Donald Trump said Sunday he would halt U.S. payments to Colombia, accusing President Gustavo Petro of enabling drug production and using insults that drew a swift defense from Colombia’s defense minister. Hours later, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said a U.S. strike in South American waters hit a vessel he linked to the ELN, killing three. Petro, who has decried recent U.S. strikes as assassination, demanded answers and legal action after a series of attacks that Washington says target traffickers; at least 32 people have been killed since early September.
