Judge expands order; ICE officials to testify

With Chicago protests simmering, a federal judge tightened limits on agents’ tactics and ordered body cameras used during encounters, citing doubts her directives were followed. U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis wants answers Monday about reported tear gas deployments; though she summoned ICE Field Director Russell Hott, he’s returning to Washington, and CBP’s Kyle Harvick and ICE’s Shawn Byers will testify instead. The hearing follows more than 1,000 migrant arrests in Illinois under Operation Midway Blitz. At the Broadview ICE facility, demonstrations continued, with at least 15 arrests Friday and at least 15 more Saturday.
