Witnesses describe horror after two young girls are thrown from Ferris wheel at Louisiana festival: ‘I heard a loud boom’

Two girls under 13 were injured after falling from a Ferris wheel at the New Roads Harvest Festival in Louisiana on Saturday, officials said. Witnesses told WBRZ a basket tipped after catching on wires, spilling riders; video posted to Facebook showed police and bystanders aiding one girl on the ground while another was helped from the basket. Both were taken to hospitals, with one airlifted to Baton Rouge; their conditions were not released. The State Fire Marshal opened an investigation. All rides were halted for inspection, then reopened except the Ferris wheel. The festival ended Nov. 2 as scheduled.
