Madagascar Protests Continue Despite President's Pledge

Madagascar's security forces used rubber bullets and tear gas to break up a youth-led protest, the latest in a series of anti-government demonstrations. The Gen Z Mada movement, which is calling for President Andry Rajoelina's resignation, rejected his offer for talks. Protests were initially sparked by anger over power and water shortages, but have expanded to include broader grievances over corruption, unemployment and cost of living. Despite the president's promise to resign in a year if power cuts persist, the group has vowed to continue their struggle.
