US woman who ‘rescued’ four chickens found guilty of trespassing and conspiracy

Zoe Rosenberg, a 23-year-old Bay Area activist with Direct Action Everywhere, was found guilty of trespassing and conspiracy for taking four chickens from Petaluma Poultry in northern California. Prosecutors said her actions were illegal regardless of motive; her attorneys argued she was rescuing animals and plan to appeal. Rosenberg faces more than five years in prison. The June 13, 2023 incident occurred around midnight, when members of her group, disguised as workers, removed the birds and later released footage. Her trial also included a misdemeanor charge of vehicle tampering.
