New measles cases confirmed in Utah, including child

Utah reports a surge in measles cases, with five confirmed infections, including a child and two pregnant women, all unvaccinated. Two required hospitalization. State epidemiologist Dr. Leisha Nolen expressed concern, noting the possibility of further cases due to known exposures and unidentified infections. While 90% of Utahns are vaccinated, she stressed the importance of vaccination, particularly for pregnant women and those planning to conceive. The MMR vaccine is 97% effective with two doses. Health officials urge those with symptoms to isolate and contact healthcare providers before visiting clinics.
