Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their New Mexico home on February 26th. Arakawa died of hantavirus, likely contracted from rodents; Hackman died of heart disease and Alzheimer's. A health inspection revealed extensive rodent infestation in outbuildings on their property. Autopsies determined their deaths were natural, Arakawa passing on February 12th and Hackman on February 18th. A court ruled that investigation records, excluding graphic images, can be released publicly.
