Following Prime Minister Netanyahu's confirmation of 20 hostages alive in Gaza, the Hostages Families Forum criticized the government's handling of the situation, calling it a missed opportunity for national revival. They demanded the immediate release of all hostages to end the 19-month war. Opposition leader Yair Lapid warned of a prolonged Gaza occupation and severe economic consequences for Israel, claiming Netanyahu had lost the Trump administration's trust. Yair Golan threatened to sue Netanyahu for defamation, while other officials voiced strong criticism. Finance Minister Smotrich urged Netanyahu to appoint a new Shin Bet head, defying the attorney general.

Italy's new law restricts citizenship eligibility to those with Italian parents or grandparents, impacting millions with Italian ancestry. This change, effective Tuesday, prevents citizenship claims based on great-grandparents, leaving many who'd invested time and money in the process ineligible. While a referendum on residency-based citizenship is upcoming, its potential failure could further tighten requirements. Those affected are exploring legal challenges or alternative visa options, facing significant financial and logistical hurdles.

The U.S. Army is preparing a large-scale parade in Washington D.C. on June 14th to celebrate its 250th anniversary, coinciding with President Trump's birthday. The parade will feature Abrams tanks, other military vehicles, aircraft, and historical reenactments. The event's estimated cost ranges from $25 million to $45 million, excluding security and infrastructure costs. 6,700 soldiers will participate, staying in federal buildings and receiving stipends. The parade will highlight the Army's history and culminate with Trump administering an oath to new recruits.

A French government report, to be released this week, alleges the Muslim Brotherhood is promoting its agenda across Europe through organizations like the Council of European Muslims and the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations. The report, based on interviews with academics and intelligence officers, claims these groups received funding from Qatar and Kuwait and that Brotherhood members hold key positions within them. While the report cites evidence of influence campaigns, it acknowledges challenges in directly linking all evidence to the Brotherhood. One organization denies the allegations.

Walt Disney Co. will terminate Florida-based employees losing temporary legal residency in the US next month. Those unable to secure new work authorization by the end of the leave will be dismissed.

A White House report on childhood diseases, spearheaded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) initiative, is causing controversy. Farmers and Republicans fear negative implications regarding glyphosate use in pesticides, while Kennedy assures them the report won't harm their livelihoods. The report, expected Thursday, has prompted letters from both concerned Republicans and Kennedy supporters urging accountability from the chemical industry. Kennedy has denied any intention to harm farmers, but the lack of transparency surrounding the commission's work has fueled anxieties.

Japanese Farm Minister Taku Eto resigned after sparking outrage with comments about never needing to buy rice due to gifts from supporters. His remarks came amidst Japan's first cost-of-living crisis in decades, causing a sharp rise in rice prices. The price surge, partly attributed to government miscalculations in demand estimates and reduced production, has fueled public anger. The incident is a significant blow to Prime Minister Ishiba's already struggling government, highlighting the political sensitivity of rice prices in Japan.

Police cited her for driving under the influence of a drug, citing observed signs of intoxication, despite video evidence suggesting she wasn't at fault in the collision. Cervantes denies wrongdoing and claims she had no alcohol in her system. Toxicology results are pending, and the District Attorney will decide whether to file charges. This isn't the first time California lawmakers have faced DUI accusations.

Senate Republicans are poised to overturn a California electric vehicle mandate with a simple majority vote, defying the Senate parliamentarian and the Government Accountability Office's recommendation for a 60-vote threshold. Democrats warn this sets a dangerous precedent, potentially eliminating the filibuster. Republicans argue this is a narrow exception under the Congressional Review Act, not a broader attack on Senate rules. The vote puts several Republicans in a difficult position, forcing them to choose between their stated support for the filibuster and their desire to overturn the mandate. The outcome could significantly reshape the Senate's future legislative process.

President Trump is aggressively lobbying House Republicans to pass a sweeping tax and spending bill before a self-imposed deadline. The bill, dubbed the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," includes tax cuts, increased defense spending, and cuts to healthcare programs, but faces opposition from within the Republican party. The Congressional Budget Office estimates it will add $2.3 trillion to the national debt. Trump met with hardline Republicans to garner support, facing resistance from groups demanding deeper spending cuts and others seeking larger tax breaks. A House vote is expected soon, with the bill needing to pass the Senate afterward.
