Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald stated he has implemented valuable lessons regarding his media interactions following the public circulation of an interview excerpt involving Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Speaking during an interview with media personality Graham Bensinger, Macdonald detailed a 2024 dispute regarding training camp video footage and subsequent communications involving league standards. Macdonald clarified to reporters that his remarks occurred during a segment he understood to be off the record and unintended for public release. Upon discovering that the audio circulated publicly, Macdonald contacted Payton directly to deliver a personal apology. The situation prompted heightened awareness within the Seattle organization concerning communication protocols, discretion, and media management as the team continues its regular season schedule.
