Howard Stern says he’s in talks with SiriusXM about extending his deal and hinted he may seek “ownership” if he stays. In an interview with Andy Cohen, he praised the company he helped grow but declined to detail negotiations over his show archive, which SiriusXM considers important. Rumors have questioned a renewal amid his price tag and lighter schedule; CEO Jennifer Witz said they expect to “get to the right place.” Stern, 71, pushed back on “too woke” chatter and reflected on evolving his show since its taboo-breaking early years. His contract expires at the end of 2025.

Interpol has identified “The Woman with the German keys” as 35-year-old German citizen Eva Maria Pommer, more than two decades after her body was found in the dunes of Meijendel, Netherlands. The breakthrough, the fourth for Interpol’s 2023 “Identify Me” campaign, followed TV programs that drew hundreds of tips and a Dutch foundation’s lead; DNA confirmed the match. Investigators had pursued a German link via keys traced to Bottrop, though records had burned. The cause of death remains unknown, and Interpol urges anyone with information about Pommer to contact Dutch authorities.

New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart led the team to a stunning 34-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, displaying a fearless style that could be the key to the Giants breaking free from a decade-long slump. Dart completed 17-of-25 passes for 195 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, and ran for 60 yards and a touchdown. His performance earned him high praise from Giants coach Brian Daboll, who staked his career on Dart by benching Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson earlier in the season.

Google may be required to make changes in the UK to give users more search engine options, following a decision by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The CMA has given Google 'strategic market status', which could lead to 'proportionate, targeted interventions' to ensure market competitiveness. Google has warned against measures that could 'inhibit UK innovation and growth.' The CMA's potential measures could include 'choice screens' for alternative search providers and more publisher control over content use.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national wrongfully deported from the US, is set for an evidentiary hearing in Maryland. The hearing will focus on the steps taken to remove him from the US, with government witnesses expected to testify. Despite a 2019 court order barring his deportation to El Salvador, he was deported there in March, only to be brought back to the US in June to face human smuggling charges. The Department of Homeland Security had planned to deport him to Ghana, but this was rejected by Ghana's foreign minister.

Following a 34-17 loss to the Giants, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and right tackle Lane Johnson voiced concerns about the team's offensive shortcomings. Despite using the running game to power their offense to a Super Bowl last season, the Eagles have struggled to replicate this success six weeks into the current season. Both players refrained from blaming offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, instead emphasizing the need for improved execution from the players.

Scientists have discovered an alarming rate of methane seeps escaping from cracks in the Antarctic seabed due to warming, raising concerns that global warming predictions may be underestimated. Over 40 seeps were found in the Ross Sea, many in previously studied sites, suggesting they are new. Methane, a super-polluting gas, traps around 80 times more heat than carbon dioxide in its first 20 years in the atmosphere. The fear is that these seeps could rapidly transfer methane into the atmosphere, contributing to further climate change.

This marks the state's third execution since resuming capital punishment last year. Ward's execution has raised questions about Indiana's use of the powerful sedative pentobarbital. His case had been in the courts for over two decades, with his conviction overturned once and his pleas for clemency rejected.
