Wall Street’s biggest banks are set for their strongest investment banking quarter since 2021, with analysts projecting $9.1bn in Q3 advisory and underwriting revenue across JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, up 13% year on year and 50% from 2023’s lows, though still below the 2021 peak. Optimism has grown as the Trump administration signals lighter oversight and consolidation-friendly policies, while AI investment needs add momentum. Trading remains resilient, and overall profits are seen up about 8%. Still, consumer credit is under scrutiny after a subprime auto lender’s collapse.

A preliminary study presented at the ECNP Congress suggests an EEG could flag who is prone to antidepressant‑related sexual problems. Using the LDAEP biomarker, researchers found lower measures predicted orgasmic dysfunction after eight weeks of escitalopram with 87% accuracy in 90 unmedicated adults (average age 27, mostly female). The noninvasive, 30‑minute test might help clinicians choose treatments and avoid side effects that affect an estimated 25%–80% of users. Experts welcomed the idea but noted limits: it’s an abstract, LDAEP isn’t a direct serotonin measure, and larger replications—ideally placebo‑controlled—are needed; a 600‑participant study is underway.

Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tomahawk missiles, if supplied, would target only Russian military sites, as the Kremlin voiced alarm over a potential U.S. transfer. Zelenskyy called a second call in two days with President Donald Trump very productive, saying they discussed air defence and long-range capabilities. Trump said he would approve Tomahawks only if he knew Ukraine’s plans, added he had sort of made a decision, and might tell Vladimir Putin he could give them to Ukraine. Kremlin warned of extreme concern. Meanwhile, Macron condemned Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy grid amid blackouts and drone, missile and glide-bomb attacks.

Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, once cast as rivals on Laguna Beach, reunited Saturday and signaled their feud is over. Cavallari, 38, posted an Instagram photo of the pair smiling with arms around each other, joking that fans can 'put away their team Lauren and team Kristin shirts.' The post drew jubilant comments, with users saying the reunion felt healing. The former costars, entangled in a 2004 love triangle and years of speculation, have since acknowledged producers amplified tensions and said the rift faded long ago.

A big day produced dramatic finishes: Bryce Young went toe-to-toe with Dak Prescott and set up Ryan Fitzgerald’s 33-yard walk-off as the Panthers beat the Cowboys 30-27. The Chargers clipped the Dolphins 29-27 on Dicker the kicker’s 33-yard winner after a Ladd McConkey catch-and-run. Sam Darnold starred as Seattle downed Jacksonville 20-12. Pittsburgh’s defense smothered rookie Dillon Gabriel in a 23-9 win, stretching Cleveland’s skid in Pittsburgh to 22. The Rams handled Baltimore 17-3, Indianapolis outlasted Arizona 31-27, and New England topped New Orleans 25-19.

At least 27 people were killed in Gaza City as Hamas security forces battled gunmen from the Dughmush clan, witnesses said—19 from the clan and eight Hamas members. The clashes erupted Saturday in Tel al-Hawa and near the former Jordanian Hospital after more than 300 Hamas fighters moved on a residential block, sending panicked families fleeing. Hamas says the clan had killed two of its men; the Dughmush accuse Hamas of trying to evict them. Hamas has recalled about 7,000 security personnel to reassert control in areas vacated by Israeli troops.

At a Los Angeles show, pop star Chappell Roan praised the city’s resilience after this year’s wildfires, then declared “F**k ICE forever,” prompting anti-ICE chants. The Department of Homeland Security’s Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Tricia McLaughlin, shot back via TMZ: “Pink Pony Club is good. Pedophiles are bad… Get a grip.” The exchange came amid renewed scrutiny of immigration enforcement; government data cited by The Guardian shows detainees without criminal records now form the largest group. Roan hasn’t responded. Other celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Olivia Rodrigo, have recently condemned deportations and raids.

Dietitians say shell color doesn’t change what’s inside: brown and white eggs are nutritionally identical. The hue simply reflects the hen’s breed—hens with red or brown feathers lay brown eggs—and those bigger birds eat more, which can make brown eggs costlier. Regardless of labels like cage-free or organic, the nutrient profile is similar unless hens are fed a fortified diet. One study cited found organic eggs higher in some growth-related nutrients, while conventional eggs had more tied to fat metabolism, but both remained nutrient-dense.

Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update turned the winless Jets into a punchline, with Colin Jost riffing on former quarterback Mark Sanchez’s Indianapolis arrest and stabbing during an alleged drunken altercation with a delivery driver. Prosecutors upgraded Sanchez’s case to a felony battery charge carrying up to six years and $10,000 in fines. The 38-year-old Fox analyst, who had chest surgery and posted a $300 bond after booking, has pleaded not guilty and returns to court in early November. Sanchez, a 2009–12 Jets quarterback, twice reached the AFC title game; the Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010.
