After praising the polished It Ends With Us, the reviewer finds Josh Boone’s Regretting You a chintzy, tonally erratic misfire. Opening flashbacks force 30‑somethings to play teens, casting a garish pall that lingers into the present-day story of Morgan, Clara, and Jonah. The film splits between adult grief and a flimsy Clara‑Miller romance, shortchanging the former and miscasting the latter’s chemistry. Heavy-handed product placement and wan North Carolina gloss further sap conviction. Williams and Franco are stranded by abrupt shifts, while the adaptation leans into Sparks-style schmaltz, leaving an unoriginal, soggy melodrama.

North Carolina’s Republican-led Legislature approved a new congressional map in a 66–48 House vote, aiming to add one GOP House seat before the 2026 elections. Sen. Ralph Hise said the goal was singular: secure another Republican district. The plan makes the 1st District—held by Democrat Don Davis and narrowly supportive of Donald Trump in 2024—more GOP-friendly, while the 3rd absorbs Democratic areas. Democrats and protesters condemned “racist maps,” alleging dilution of Black and Latino voters; of 11,000 comments, only three backed the plan, a Democrat said. Trump praised the map, part of wider GOP mid-decade redistricting moves.

At the Peoria trial of Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy Sean Grayson, prosecutors said he ignored training and unlawfully killed Sonya Massey, a 36-year-old Black woman who had called 911 from her home. Grayson, charged with three counts of first-degree murder, pleaded not guilty. Jurors will see body-camera video that prosecutors say shows Massey posed no threat; the defense says she raised a pot of hot water and that deadly force was reasonable. Evidence included delayed collection of a casing and the pan. The 2024 killing has spurred scrutiny of police shootings and prompted a transparency change in Illinois law.

Women across the U.S. are turning to high-dose testosterone—often from med-spas and pellet implants—seeking energy and revived libido despite no FDA-approved product for women and scant long-term data. Many describe dramatic boosts to desire, focus and productivity; some say it transformed relationships. Others report unsettling effects, from hair loss and voice deepening to irritability and outsized arousal, with pellets impossible to reverse for months. Specialists endorse only standard doses for postmenopausal low libido, yet social media hype and celebrity mentions are fueling demand as industry pushes for eventual approval.

Maxx Crosby is staying with the Raiders, NFL Network reported, despite inquiries ahead of next month’s trade deadline. After meeting with the club Tuesday, the four-time Pro Bowler wants to remain in Las Vegas. The 28-year-old has 28 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and an interception through seven games for the 2-5 team, now in its first season under Pete Carroll. Coming off a 31-0 loss to the Chiefs and a bye, Crosby is set for Week 9 against the Jaguars. Receiver Jakobi Meyers reiterated his trade request; the deadline is Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.

JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes made their red carpet debut at the 2025 Dancers Against Cancer Gala of the Stars at the Beverly Hilton on Tuesday, trading kisses and giggles on arrival. Hughes surprised Siwa with news she’d receive the Humanitarian Award for 10 years of work with the charity, then presented it later that night. The pair, who met on U.K. Celebrity Big Brother, recently introduced their families backstage at Siwa’s Birmingham show. Janet Jackson, Allison Holker and host Maksim Chmerkovskiy were among attendees.

The federal shutdown has frozen national respiratory virus surveillance, leaving the CDC’s flu, Covid-19 and RSV reports weeks out of date just as activity rises. Measles tracking continues, but key tools like FluView, RESP-NET and the Respiratory Illness Data Channel are paused, creating blind spots for hospitals, states and the public. Some state dashboards and independent efforts help, yet experts warn that lost coordination hampers preparedness, vaccine decisions and trust. They also expect a slow, costly catch-up amid CDC workforce turmoil and fear further delays in vaccine coverage reporting.

Director Nia DaCosta delivers a heady, Ibsen-inspired melodrama set in a 1950s English country house, where Hedda (Tessa Thompson) marries timid scholar George Tesman (Tom Bateman) for luxury in a vast house now burdened by debt. As a coveted professorship becomes crucial, Hedda’s ex-lover Eileen Lövborg (Nina Hoss) arrives, also seeking the job, sparking a spiraling, booze-fueled party and manipulations around Eileen’s manuscript. Kathryn Hunter offers a resoundingly authentic speech as Bertie below stairs. The film indulges absurdity and counter-historical diversity, openly noting racial difference, as its fevered mix of hedonism, gossip, and semi-intentional violence smolders.

Vice President JD Vance visited Israel as a Gaza ceasefire nears two weeks, saying the deal is advancing while U.S. officials push next steps and open a coordination center outside Gaza. In Washington, the government remains shut down, with House Democrat Hakeem Jeffries predicting pressure on Republicans over health insurance subsidies as President Trump praises budget cuts and planned grant cancellations. At the White House, demolition for a $250 million ballroom sparked preservation worries and ethics questions amid donor ties. Vice President Vance said the Israel-Hamas ceasefire is holding after talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, even as a difficult Phase 2 looms. A U.S. team is in Israel to keep the truce, in place since Oct. 10, on track; in a rare exception, envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Hamas leaders in Egypt to finalize it. Despite a flare-up Sunday, Vance prioritized aid and security and visited a coordination center built by 200 U.S. troops. Plans call for Hamas to decommission weapons, Israeli pullbacks, and a still-undefined international force, while Gaza’s interim technocrat government lacks a timetable.
