Trinidad Chambliss threw for 315 yards and a score, ran for 53, and kept plays alive as No. 8 Ole Miss edged No. 13 Oklahoma 34-26 in Norman. Kewan Lacy scored twice, and Winston Watkins added 111 receiving yards as the Rebels piled up 431 yards against a unit that entered No. 1 in total defense and No. 2 in scoring. After Xavier Robinson’s two third‑quarter TDs put Oklahoma ahead 26-25, Chambliss found Trace Bruckler for the go‑ahead strike, then Bruckler forced Isaiah Sategna’s fumble to set up a clinching field goal. John Mateer’s heave fell short.

Audrey Eckert of Nebraska was crowned Miss USA on Friday as the scandal-hit pageant returned under new ownership in Reno, Nevada. The 22-year-old digital safety advocate topped 50 contenders, with New Jersey’s Ivy Harrington and Oregon’s Chantéa McIntyre named first and second runners-up. Eckert fell to her knees amid gold streamers as reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig placed the crown, with last year’s winner absent. After months of upheaval and lawsuits, former titleholder Noelia Voigt appeared as an online host. The finale streamed via a pageantry platform, not television.

At Washington’s 'No Kings' protest and sister rallies, thousands denounced what participants called President Donald Trump’s 'kingship' and authoritarianism, as inflatable chickens and other costumes bobbed above largely educated White women in their 40s, according to American University researchers. Psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert told Fox News Digital the movement reflects 'group therapy'—a search for community and validation driven by 'therapy speak' that can blur activism with emotional catharsis. He cautioned that protesters may project personal anxiety or anger and wrongly equate the effort with the Civil Rights Movement.

No. 22 Texas outlasted Mississippi State 45-38 in overtime, but quarterback Arch Manning exited after his helmet hit the turf on a 13-yard run to open OT. He struggled to stand and was later in the medical tent; coach Steve Sarkisian offered no update, saying more would be known back in Austin. Backup Matthew Caldwell immediately threw a 10-yard TD to Emmett Mosley V, capping a rally from 17 down in the fourth. Manning posted a career-high 346 yards and three TDs, while Ryan Niblett’s 79-yard punt return forged the late tie.

Fourth-ranked Alabama stunned South Carolina 29-22 after a wild finish on the road. Trailing most of the second half, the Crimson Tide tied it with 2:16 left on Ty Simpson's two-point pass to Josh Cuevas, then linebacker Deontae Lawson stripped LaNorris Sellers at 1:39. Germie Bernard sealed it with a 25-yard touchdown run with 34 seconds remaining. Earlier, DaShawn Jones returned a takeaway for Alabama's first score as the defense kept them within reach. The win was Alabama's seventh straight and moved the Tide to 5-0 in SEC play against an upset-minded Gamecocks team.

Democratic New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill vowed to prevent voter intimidation after the Justice Department said it will send federal election watchers to New Jersey and California, following Republican requests. With Gov. Phil Murphy leaving office, Sherrill and her campaign said elections must be secure, transparent, and free from intimidation, and pledged swift prosecutions of violations. The DOJ said it will monitor six jurisdictions ahead of the Nov. 4, 2025 election; Attorney General Pamela Bondi called transparency essential as the Civil Rights Division deploys staff to ensure compliance.

The Riverdale alum, 31, said yes on Friday, then debuted a sparkling diamond ring at Glen Powell’s birthday party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. An insider says Mendes believed she was headed to producing partner Rachel Matthews’ birthday before a surprise engagement party, where Mancuso proposed in front of family and friends. The couple, who first sparked dating buzz in November 2022 and went Instagram official on Valentine’s Day 2023, also collaborated on the semi‑autobiographical film Música.

North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick’s search for a major-conference win continued with a razor-thin loss. In a defensive game tied 10-10 after regulation, Virginia scored first in overtime for a 17-10 lead. The Tar Heels answered with a touchdown, and Belichick kept the offense out for a two-point try to end it, but the conversion came up inches short, sealing Virginia’s 17-16 escape. North Carolina falls to 2-5 overall and 0-5 against major-conference opponents; its two victories are over Charlotte and Richmond.

Week 9 opened with 22 ranked teams in action and the SEC looming large. Oklahoma tied No. 8 Ole Miss on a 77-yard catch-and-run in Norman. No. 2 Indiana cruised past UCLA at halftime, fueled by a pick-six and two Roman Hemby touchdowns. Georgia Tech handled Syracuse, and USF’s Byrum Brown drove a 24-14 edge at Memphis. Arkansas flipped Auburn with a 90-yard pick-six that triggered a QB change after Cam Coleman’s early TD and ankle scare. Later, Texas A&M vs. LSU and Michigan vs. Michigan State headline the night.

California's Proposition 50, also called the Election Rigging Response Act, would pause the state's independent redistricting commission until 2031 so Democrats can create five safe House seats - a counter to GOP maneuvers in Texas, urged by Donald Trump, and elsewhere. Governor Gavin Newsom, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former president Barack Obama back the measure, which polls now show leading by about 20 points, with support in the high 50s to low 60s. Fueled by anti-Trump sentiment, the well-funded yes campaign is outspending opponents, while Republican figures including Kevin McCarthy and Arnold Schwarzenegger struggle to gain traction.
