The Mississippi Senate race is expected to take days to resolve as Democrat Scott Colom leads Republican Sen.

Cindy Hyde‑Smith by just sixty‑five votes in the current count.

As votes continue to be tallied, attention turns to thousands of outstanding ballots that could shift the outcome and trigger a complex recount.

Mississippi has not seen close post‑election drama recently, yet Colom’s strong showing follows a national trend of Democratic gains in red states.

National operatives, including staff from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Elias Law Group, have arrived to oversee the counting and legal strategy.

Colom, a local prosecutor, declared readiness to litigate, citing an army of lawyers and local support.
